Spent some time in our Brussel Sprout Forest

Brussel Sprouts belong to the Brassica family.  The Brassica family includes a lot of familiar faces such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and kale.  Although it dates back later, Brussel Sprouts didn’t popularize until the 16th century near Brussels in Belgium (hence the name ?).  They grow on a stalk and can grow up to a meter tall.  The leafy greens are loaded with Vitamins A & C, potassium, calcium, fiber, and oddly enough – also protein!  They can be boiled, roasted, steamed, grilled, or a great addition to any stir fry.  You can buy them picked, or you can make it fun and buy from the stem!
